On Thursday, the Party of European Socialists (PES) firmly condemned statements by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico regarding Islam in Slovakia. Robert Fico recently said that "There is no room for Islam in Slovakia" and that he "does not wish to see a compact Muslim community in Slovakia." The PES Presidency stated that if Fico won't revise and clarify his position they are ready for further steps, including suspension of SMER-SD from its membership in the Party of European Socialists.
