More than 400,000 Roma people, which is 7.45 percent of the total population, live in Slovakia, with almost half of them dispersed among the majority population. The highest numbers of Roma live in the Banská Bystrica, Košice and Prešov region. These findings were presented in the Atlas of Roma Communities.
Monitoring has identified the most disadvantaged Roma communities. As the State Plenipotentiary for Roma Communities Peter Pollák claims, this data will helpful in getting direct development interventions specifically to these locations.
