Interior Minister survives no confidence vote

Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák will remain in his post following an unsuccessful no confidence vote held in the parliament on Tuesday. All present 76 coalition MPs unanimously supported Kaliňák against 58 votes that opposition gathered after a heated discussion in the parliament. The interior minister faced the no confidence vote after opposition parties Freedom and Solidarity and OĽaNO-NOVA filed their proposal. They claimed that the interior minister had influenced the investigation into the case of an excessive sum of money in VAT returns received by developer Ladislav Bašterňák.
