Tax freedom day was on June 2 in Slovakia this year, reads an analysis from the F. A. Hayek Foundation and the Slovak Taxpayers' Association. This day symbolically marks the date when the citizens start to earn money for themselves and stop working solely for the state. In 2016, Slovaks had to work 106 days to pay their taxes, one more day compared to the previous year. "Increased expenditure on culture, health care and higher regional budgets are among the reasons for the increase," explained Martin Lindák, the analyst of F.A.Hayek foundation.
