On Wednesday the Supreme Court turned down the appeal of the far-right People's party - Our Slovakia leader Marián Kotleba against the decision of the Interior Ministry from March 2014, which refused to register a civic association called the People's Guard. The Court confirmed that the organisation's statutes breach Slovak law and the International Agreement on Children's Rights, as people as young as 12 were allowed to join. Moreover, the symbols of the People's Guard use associations with the totalitarian regime of the wartime Slovak state (1939-45). The verdict of the Supreme Court is valid and cannot be appealed.
