Prime Minister Robert Fico should move out of the apartment he rents in the Bonaparte housing complex from tycoon Ladislav Bašternák, who is suspected of unlawfully claiming excessive VAT refunds. In front of journalists on Tuesday, SaS Deputy Chairman Ľubomír Galko urged Fico to do so. Galko insists that the PM should show the public his rent contract and show documents on paid rent. Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák has dismissed the opposition's accusations associating his person or the party SMER-SD with tax scandals. He already named the person behind it. Excessive VAT deduction of 3.6 million euro was refunded to the company of Ladislav Bašternák in March 2011, in the middle of Iveta Radičová's Cabinet's term of office. According to the minister, the amount was paid within five days without ordering a tax inspection.
