Vietnamese living in Slovakia set up first official association

Slovak citizens of Vietnamese origin have got their first official association, founded at an inaugural session by Vietnamese from the Nghe province in Bratislava on Saturday. There are approximately 5,000 Vietnamese living in Slovakia. The history of the Vietnamese community in Slovakia goes back to the Agreement on Mutual Economic Help from the 1950s signed by the respective countries' Communist governments. Most of the Vietnamese currently living in Slovakia came in the 1960s and 1970s, and relatively larger Vietnamese communities live in Bratislava and Košice.
