Fines for driving without e-stickers cut in half

The Cabinet approved the cutting of fines for driving on motorways without e-stickers from the current €300 to €150 as of October 1. The Transport ministry also wants to change the frequency with which fines are imposed. Up to this point, fines were imposed for every day of driving without a valid e-sticker. Following the planned changes, drivers shouldn't receive a new fine earlier than a month after the previous one. In addition, every driver that has already paid one or more fines in the past 12 months and then receives yet another one will be exonerated if they then buy an e-sticker.
