The Supreme Audit Office (NKU) will announce the first results of a major audit of Slovak hospitals in summer. Nine university and faculty hospitals have been included in the first phase launched in February. The office plans to audit 40 healthcare facilities in total, including smaller hospitals. The aim of the audit is to check whether hospitals are ready for the already postponed introduction of the e-health system which should allow online access to health records as well as the Diagnoses Related Groups (DRG) system which will allow for a more detailed evaluation of the treatment provided by hospitals. The audit will also concern the way hospitals have conducted commercial activities.
