Slovak President Andrej Kiska is attending the first World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul on Monday (May 23rd). This summit has been summoned by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as a response to current levels of tension in the world. At the summit Andrej Kiska should be accompanied by representatives of Slovak diplomacy and humanitarian NGOs. The World Humanitarian Summit will be attended by around 6,000 people, including representatives of 110 countries and 50 world leaders. The main aim is to address the incongruities between financial requests and actual financial contributions to help people in need, which reached a record-breaking $9.3 billion (almost €8.3 billion) in 2015.
