At the end of May the air force exercise code named Blue Wave is to take place in Bratislava, Sliac, Trencin and at other bases and facilities of the Slovak Air Force. Its aim is to try and create a no-fly zone over particular areas of Slovakia. This exercise is part of a series within the framework of Slovak Shield 2016. The training will examine capacities for protection of the defence infrastructure, as well as the units' overview of the air situation and air defence. According to the Slovak Armed Forces Chief of General Staff, Milan Maxim, such exercise should comprehensively examine the capabilities of the Slovak Air Force to operate together with counterparts from other countries.
