Public defender of rights Jana Dubovcova presented the 2015 report at the Slovak Parliament on Tuesday. The public defender office registered almost 3,000 complaints with 144 cases in which basic rights and freedoms were breached. The figure is similar to the number of cases recorded in the past 2 years. Jana Dubovcova mainly complained about insufficient controls of police actions as well as about the unjust placement of children in schools for children with special needs, restitutions for agricultural soil that have been unsolved for 23 years and barrier free admission to some of the public administration buildings. There were less than 30 MPs listening to the facts provided by the public defender. This number represents a mere 1/5 of the plenum.
