On Sunday, the Slovak cyclist Peter Sagan won the first stage of the Tour of California in San Diego. Sagan, who is the leader of the team Tinkoff, rides in the rainbow shirt of the world champion. Since the year 2010 this is has been his 14th stage win at this meet. "Today was a good day; it was a little bit of a hard stage", Sagan said in the post-race press conference, as brought by the webportal Cyclingnews. Sagan will now start stage 2 in the yellow jersey he wore at the end of last year's race.
