Central and Eastern Europe calls for anti-dumping measures against China

Associations of industry and employers of Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) jointly call for strong anti-dumping measures that will protect their industries from China. They have sent their declaration to the European Commission as well as to the economy Ministers of Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia and Slovakia. The associations believe that when considering the status of the Chinese market economy the European Union must do a detailed analysis and take into consideration the possible impact it could have on various branches of European industries. Martin Hošták from the National Union of Employers (NUE) claims that the CEE region is home to many industries which are already exposed to many unfair business practices. He adds that industries in this region make up 7 percent of the Gross Domestic Product of the EU and employs over 6 million people within the EU. "We perceive as equally important that we modernise our business and protective tools which allows for their faster and more effective implementation when necessary," Hošták noted.
