Hundreds of people gathered in Bratislava on Saturday afternoon to support the fourth annual Rainbow Pride parade, which promotes the rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities. “Today's parade was the most successful year so far in terms of atmosphere and security,” said organiser of the march Romana Schlesinger.
Even though the previous rallies were disrupted by extremists opposing the idea, no clashes were recorded this year. The event kicked off at Bratislava's Hviezdoslav Square. The participants then marched through a number of streets in the city centre and across the SNP Bridge to the borough of Petržalka. This year's parade for the first time was also featured decorated floats.
