The European Commission is gearing up to penalise states of the Union that will turn their back to the mandatory distribution of refugees, reported the SITA news agency on Wednesday. Brussels would like to impose a fine of up to €250,000 for each rejected asylum seeker. The Financial Times was the first to report on the draft. Slovakia would not fare well under the plan and may be required to pay €25,000,000 for the refusal of 100 mandatory refugees under the EU quota system, therefore it is expected that Slovakia will not support the Brussels plan. "As far as mandatory quotas are concerned, we do not perceive them as a sustainable tool for addressing the migration crisis", the Foreign Ministry responded for the Pravda daily, adding that it will provide its statement to the proposal when it is formally presented.
