In the coming days, Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák is expected to announce that he will apply for the post of Secretary General of the United Nations (UN). This information was reported by the daily Pravda, which cites a source from inside the SMER-SD party. According to the source, Lajčák waited for last week's vote of the Parliament to express their confidence in the new cabinet of Robert Fico. Lajčák's candidature should be first approved by the cabinet, and afterwards the official letter of nomination will be sent to the New York headquarters of the United Nations.
