Last week the special envoy for migration, Igor Slobodník, inaugurated the Slovak Embassy in Lebanon, wrote the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs on its website. Slobodník visited the Republic of Lebanon in preparation for Slovakia's presidency in the EU Council to meet and discuss the refugee situation and possible ways that the international community, and particularly the European Union, can assist Lebanon in improving the life of refugees as well as the local communities that shelter them. The EU is currently the largest provider of financial and humanitarian aid to countries affected by the crisis in Syria.
