The Prosecutor-General's Office has launched an investigation into the far-right Kotleba-People's Party Our Slovakia. It concerns the possibility of submitting a motion on its disbanding to the Supreme Court, the Human Rights Institute reported on Thursday. This institute turned to the Prosecutor General's office after Marian Kotleba's party made it to Parliament in the March 5 general election. More than 20,000 individuals have supported the appeal via the internet. "The Office has registered more than 160 motions asking for the disbandment of this party. The corresponding prosecutor is currently amassing all paperwork to adjudicate on the substantiveness of these motions", said Special Prosecutor's Office spokesperson Jana Tökölyová. Activists have been pointing out that Kotleba's current party is de facto identical with his previous one, Slovenská Pospolitosť (Slovak Brotherhood), which was disbanded by the Supreme Court due to its unconstitutionality back in 2006. The Slovak Brotherhood continued with its activities as a civil association and was disbanded by the interior ministry in 2008. The ministry's decision was overruled by the Supreme Court in 2009. Right before the 2010 general election rightist extremists took over the Friends of Wine Party and later renamed it to its current form.
