At the international Locked Shields 2016 exercise focusing on cyberspace defence, the Slovak Armed Forces team came out on top. The exercise, organised annually by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, concentrated on training security experts who protect national IT systems on a daily basis. Teams of experts had to deflect thousands of attacks during the exercise. Specialists practised solving these incidents, their reporting, analysis, as well as responding correctly to them. Over 550 professionals and a total of 26 nations were involved in this year's Locked Shields 2016. "The fact that members of the Slovak Armed Forces were assessed as the best resisting team in this exercise proves that we pay a great deal of attention to operations in cyberspace. It's a real success that we stood up to such strong international competition," said Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš.
