After five years, a prosecuting authority is again investigating the actions of Education Minister Peter Plavčan (Slovak National Party) at the Student Loan Fund, where he served on its controlling bodies. In the wake of public criticism, the Bratislava Regional Prosecutor's Office will look into whether the law was violated when the loan fund's management lent money to the investment group Slavia Capital. The fund transferred 5.5 million euros into the accounts of Slavia Capital at a time when Plavčan's spouse Viera sat on the Slavia Capital's Board of Directors. Due to this opposition MPs already asked for Plavčan's resignation in the beginning of April.
