Pilot dies in glider crash in High Tatras

A glider crashed close to Lysá Poľana in the High Tatras on Wednesday, claiming the life of the pilot. According to Prešov Police spokesman, the pilot was a 40 year old Pole and a regular participant in the ongoing international competition FCC Gliding. Early media reports of four gliders crashing were proved to be inaccurate. The FCC Gliding, launched this year on April 10, sees the participation of approximately 130 pilots from various countries. Originally the competition was scheduled to conclude on Thursday (April 21) as the final day, but in the wake of the tragedy, Thursday was declared a no fly day.
