Unemployment rate drops under 10% in March

The unemployment rate in Slovakia stood at 9.89 percent in March, representing a decrease of 0.20 percentage points month-on-month - according to the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Centre. This means that over 260,000 people are immediately able to take up a job. "We recorded a decrease in all 'risk groups'," said the centre's director Marián Valentovič. In terms of regions, the highest unemployment rate was recorded in the Prešov region in eastern Slovakia, followed by Banská Bystrica, in central Slovakia and Košice, again in eastern Slovakia.
