Slovak Prime Minister to remain in hospital

Although it was originally expected that Prime Minister Robert Fico was to stay in hospital for three days following a heart complication, he will ultimately remain under observation until the end of this week at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NUSCH). This was reported by the SME daily on Tuesday. Fico was admitted to hospital last Thursday, allegedly over an acute coronary syndrome. Chief cardiology expert Gabriel Kamenský from the Health Ministry told the daily that it's de facto a heart attack symptom. The daily, citing an unnamed cardiologist, writes that doctors might have prolonged Fico's stay in hospital due to cautiousness. "It's because he's a public official ... Doctors are five-times as cautious as if this concerned an ordinary person", said the cardiologist. Neither NUSCH, nor Fico's family have told the public why Fico was admitted to hospital last week. The specialised hospital only announced that he underwent cardiologist examinations. "Voters have the right to know whether the prime minister had a heart attack or not", said the cardiologist, adding that it should be made known when Fico is released from the hospital at the latest.
