Bratislava's city hall has asked the Government and the Parliament for a review and update of statistical data concerning the population of Bratislava, Mayor Ivo Nesrovnal told TASR press agency. The Register of the Slovak population indicates a much higher number of residents of the capital than the data of the Statistics Office. According to the first database, Bratislava had 472,966 inhabitants at the end of March; a figure which compared with those of the Statistic office would mean that the capital gained 50,000 new inhabitants in three months. The Mayor is unhappy that the capital gets its share from the state budget based on data from the Statistics Office which is not updated fast enough to reflect reality, thus losing money.
