On Saturday evening the Slovak Film and Television Academy announced the winners in 14 categories of the National Film Awards "Slnko v sieti" (Sun in the net) for the years 2014 and 2015. The evening was dominated by the feature film directed by Marko Škop, Eva Nová, which won in five categories. The film is about the difficult life of an ageing actress, portrayed by Emília Vášáryová. However, on April 18 Slovak cinematography commemorates another important award. On this day in 1966 the film Shop on Main Street won an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. The film about Aryanization during World War II was the first and still remains the only Slovak film awarded by the Oscar.
