Slovakia has a chance to achieve progress and the Cabinet faces the responsibility not to squander that opportunity, said President Andrej Kiska after his meeting with Justice Minister Lucia Žitňanská on Wednesday. Kiska emphasised that issues with the judiciary, corruption, the ability of the state to guarantee people justice and equal standing before the law, together with health care and education, represent the key reasons why people lose faith in the state. "It's important for the Government to demonstrate that it understands the problems and knows what's angering people," said Kiska, who believes that if minister Žitňanská manages to realise her plans, it would result in significant progress. "A number of important proposals from civic initiatives made it into the Government Manifesto and I think it's quite good that there are many specific commitments," said the President.
