A reduction in taxes and silencing the voices of elected extremists are some of the targets outlined in the ruling coalition's new manifesto, released Wednesday morning (April 13). The government was expected to accept the agreement today before taking it to parliament on Tuesday, April 19. Included in the manifesto is the abolition of recently introduced tax licenses after 2018, a reduction of corporate income tax to 21 percent, increases on tax exemption limits for the self-employed and the promise of Slovakia achieving a balanced budget by the year 2020. Highways once again made it into the list of promises, with the new manifesto regarding a highway connection between Bratislava and Košice as a top priority. Funding for schools and the fight against letterbox companies was also highlighted, with the new manifesto setting aside two billion euro for education and tougher laws against companies which only exist on paper as well as tax havens.
