Third of Slovaks receive money from their families abroad

One third of people living in Slovakia get financial help from their families living abroad. According to the results of a survey by Money Service SK, which operates payment services in Slovakia, most of the family transactions come from the neighbouring Czech Republic. The company estimates tens of thousands of Slovaks working abroad, those who have left their homeland in search for better careers and salaries. Besides the Czech Republic, financial support for families in Slovakia also comes from Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Austria, Germany, the USA, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, the Netherlands and France. Most of the financial help goes to eastern Slovakia, to the Prešov and Košice regions.
