The British carmaker Jaguar Land Rover has postponed the start of its plant's construction in Nitra as it was asked to submit a project for assessing its environmental impact. Before, the Nitra district authority decided not to assess the environmental impact of the construction due to the study submitted by the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency (SARIO). This stance was opposed by local activist Roman Cerulík, claiming that the data in the plan are deliberately distorted. According to the Environmental Ministry, the proposed construction needs to be evaluated. The construction of the plant should begin in mid 2016, and the first car should be produced in 2018.
