Foreign minister Miroslav Lajčák is paying an official visit to Greece and Turkey today. He plans to find out more about the situation in the countries mostly affected by the migration crisis. On Thursday, the Slovak foreign minister held talks with his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier. Miroslav Lajčák confirmed that the priority of the Slovak EU council presidency will be solving the refugee issue. The German foreign minister named the better protection of the outer borders of the Schengen area a priority in order to secure free movement within the EU. On Wednesday (April 6), the EC initiated a process of reforming the Common European Asylum System and unveiled measures to ensure safe legal migration to Europe.
