New government proxy for Roma is a Most-Hid nominee

Most-Hid nominee Abel Ravasz will become the new Government proxy for Roma communities, replacing OLaNO's Peter Pollák. Sociologist Abel Ravasz previously worked as an adviser to the party MOST-HID and was the sponsor and co-author of the party's Civic Vision program."Ravasz is a young man who's devoted practically his entire professional career to these activities," said Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák. "There are many projects that need to be concluded. I believe that he'll have the necessary drive and these many issues will move forward rapidly," said Kaliňák, adding that the Roma issue will be one of the new Government's priorities. The Party of the Roma Union in Slovakia expressed its discontent with the appointment of Ravasz. "Nobody knows this gentleman. We don't know his work with the Roma, either. At least former proxy Pollák was a Roma. Not everything was as it should have been, but he was a Roma. I'm disappointed that a Most-Hid nominee will be in the post of proxy," said chairman of the Party of the Roma Union František Tanko.
