Panama Papers leak includes Slovak firms

The recent leaking of 11.5 million documents from Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca has shed light onto the potentially unethical financial dealings of thousands of companies and numerous high-profile individuals, including elected officials, celebrities, presidents and prime ministers. The so-called Panama Papers were obtained by the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, and include financial records and correspondence going back 40 years, giving details of 214,000 offshore entities across more than 200 countries. According to the Czech Centre for Investigative Journalism, a handful of Slovak entities have also appeared in the spotlight with police beginning investigations. Mossack Fonseca specialises in aiding companies and individuals establish offshore, tax exempt companies. The firm has rejected allegations of any wrongdoing.
