The Slovak-Hungarian pipeline has started transporting the first cubic meters of natural gas, informed Eustream on Wednesday, the Slovak natural gas carrier on the website vEnergetike.sk. "We have recorded bookings of transport capacity to Hungary for March as well as April," stated Eustream. The pipeline was officially opened on July 1st 2015, however, it stayed empty until now. Reacting to the pipline's 8-month inactivity, Eustream stated that they do not examine or comment on their customers' motives. This two way gas pipeline with a daily transport capacity of 531,000 m3 goes from Veľké Zlievnice in the central, Banská Bystrica region to the village Vecsés, a suburb of the Hungarian capital Budapest. It is over 110 km long, with almost 19 km being on the Slovak side. The project was partially financed by the European Energetic program.
