Individuals charged in Noticeboard Scandal

Almost a decade after the event, the National Criminal Investigator Agency (NAKA) has concluded its investigation into the "Noticeboard Scandal", resulting in charges being laid against five individuals. Marián J., Igor Š., Radoslav B., Tomáš L. and Zdenka K have been accused of violating their obligations to report foreign assets, as well as abusing positions of authority and deception regarding public procurement and public tenders. This was announced by Michal Slivka, Spokesperson of the Police Corps Presidium in an interview with TASR. In 2007 the Ministry of Development declared a tender for €119.5 million worth of services, however the tender was announced on a small noticeboard hidden in the hallways of the Ministry in a section which was inaccessible to the public. The tender was won by the firms Zamedia and Avocat, both of which had close ties to Ján Slota, head of the Slovak National Party. After the scandal became public knowledge, the contracts were cancelled but not before €12 million had ended up in the accounts of the two private companies, according to TA3 news.
