Peter Krupa, a newly elected MP of the far-right Kotleba-People's Party Our Slovakia (ĽSNS), took a firearm to the parliamentary building on Monday. He voluntarily surrendered the gun upon arriving at parliament, where he had come to discuss the distribution of parliamentary posts. The security staff don't usually search legislators or their assistants upon arrival. Only members of the press and the public are routinely subjected to this. "It's unacceptable for MPs to take guns to parliament. It was shocking ... I don't suppose that the future MP should be afraid of his security in parliament. This in no way corresponds to the culture that we're striving to have in parliament. This is just unacceptable", reacted Interior Minister Robert Kaliňák.
