The EU prepares for more negotiations with Turkey

On Wednesday, the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák participated at a European Council session in Brussels on the migration crisis. The main topic of the discussion was the preparation of this week's summit agenda focusing on EU-Turkey relations and humanitarian aid for Greece. As Lajčák added, the agreement between the EU and Turkey is vital. It has to be one that is legally clean and quickly executable. "The EU has shown enough flexibility; however, the partnership with Turkey needs to be balanced and both sides need to fulfil its responsibilities," added the Slovak Foreign Minister. At the session, EU Ministers also reached a consensus on the fact that Greece needs help with the situation of overcrowded refugee camps. Finally Miroslav Lajčák reiterated that the 'Visegrad four' countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) reinforce their stance against mandatory refugee relocation quotas.
