A caretaker Government can't be the result of a general election, as it goes against the very principles of a democratic parliamentary system, Prime Minister Robert Fico said on Radio Television Slovakia's Sunday talk show. Such a Government wouldn't be able to take any substantial decisions. "This is an unacceptable notion for us. We'll have to do everything possible to create a normal, stable Government," said Fico. Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) chairman Richard Sulík, whose party was second in the elections, concurred with Fico. "People didn't vote for us to see someone different govern the country in the end," said Sulík. Meanwhile, a fresh election wouldn't be a good solution, either.
