Reverse charge mechanism for meat presented to the European Commission

The Finance Ministry sent a request to the European Commission in February for the introduction of a so-called reverse charge mechanism for meat. According to the ministry, the Commission has confirmed the reception of the application and has a month to review its completeness. The application for exemption covers the tax on the supply of pork, beef, and poultry meat and live animals bred for this purpose. The point is that the exemption's approval by the Council of the European Commission should eliminate fraudulent behaviour that is widespread in the meat sector, says the department.
