Opening of next chapters of the Turkey's EU accession would be a logical step. Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák stated that in an interview for the SITA press agency. As he added, Slovakia supports such a move. "I personally find it a mistake to stop the accession talks with Turkey due to political reasons," said the Slovak Foreign Minister. According to him, if the accession process runs normally, the trust in both sides would be increased. Turkey has been an EU accession candidate since 1999. The talks started in 2005.
