As part of the Government's anti-terrorist measures, the Defence Ministry has assigned 800 members of the Armed Forces who could be used for patrolling under the command of the Police Corps, TASR learnt on Tuesday. "These professional soldiers could be deployed if need arises, following a possible deterioration of the security situation, based on a request from the Police Corps", said Defence Ministry communications department head Martin Čambalík. Defence Minister Martin Glváč told TASR back in December that these soldiers should serve in three-member patrols with two police officers. This move also means that the military will need new personnel, and it plans to hire 500 soldiers in 2016 and another 300 in 2017 in addition to the normal recruitment plans.
