Inflation reached minus 0.6% in January

The inflation rate in Slovakia stood at minus 0.6 percent in January, according the Slovak Statistics Office. The average harmonised inflation rate for the 12-month period up to January 2016 amounted to minus 0.4 percent. On monthly terms the index of consumer prices was mainly influenced by falls in prices in the category of housing, water, gas and other fuels. Upward pressure on prices month-on-month was exerted in the categories of furniture, household equipment and ordinary household maintenance.
