Two thirds of Bratislava residents are pleased with their income

Around two thirds of the people of Bratislava are satisfied with the financial situation of their households, according to the latest analysis carried out by Poštová Banka based on the results of a Eurobarometer survey. Only the inhabitants of Budapest are worse off, while those of Warsaw, Prague and Vienna in particular are more satisfied than people in the Slovak capital. The satisfaction rate among Vienna residents reaches as high as 85 percent. The financial situation of households is influenced by the level of salaries and unemployment in the country or city. "Slovakia has the highest unemployment rate among neighbouring countries, but the situation in Bratislava is favourable, with a jobless rate fluctuating around 5 percent," said the bank's analyst Jana Glasova. As many as 62 percent of Bratislava residents agree with the assertion that it's easy to find a job. "This is a higher proportion than for Budapest, Warsaw or even Vienna," she added. The financial situation faced by households is also influenced by real estate prices, which are usually highest in capitals. "Only 14 percent of Bratislava inhabitants view it as easy to find a good place to live at a suitable price, which is a smaller share than in all neighbouring countries," said Glasova. The situation is similar in Vienna, where 18 percent of the population agree with the assertion, while the figure is around one in four residents in Warsaw and Prague and one in three in Budapest.
