Slovak teachers declared their dissatisfaction with the current situation in education by banging drums in Bratislava, Žilina and Košice on Wednesday. In the capital, the event, called 'The Beat of the Drums', which was organised by the Slovak Teachers Initiative (ISU), began in front of the Pedagogy Faculty, and a procession of around 600 people led through SNP Square to the Freedom Square. Some university lecturers have been striking since February 15, taking over the baton from primary and secondary teachers, who have suspended their strike but remain on strike alert. Despite the strike, universities remain open. Discussions, cultural events and meetings of academics at universities are taking place during their strike.
