Experts from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) have found Slovakia's system of normative financing of schools transparent and flexible. Even though the system provides a high degree of financial autonomy to schools, the low amount of money spent on education is seen as a problem. These findings are stated in an OECD report titled Overview of Resources in Education - Slovak Republic, which was presented in Bratislava on Friday by the OECD Secretary-General Jose Angel Gurria. The OECD suggests a number of rationalization measures targeting the network of schools, which would improve the efficiency of allocated funds and at the same time increase the quality of education.
