The United States can grant working visas to the citizens of Slovakia for a period lasting up to five years. The United States responded with this step to a legislative change in the Slovak Republic based on an amendment to the act on employment services that came into effect on January 1. The change simplifies access of third country nationals into the Slovak labour market by extending the period, for which a work permit is granted, from the current two to five years at maximum.
