On Wednesday the Cabinet approved a draft agreement on defence cooperation with the Czech government, which would allow for the repair and maintenance of Czech Army helicopters at Slovak aviation repair facilities. Both cabinets have agreed to formulate a framework agreement at a joint session earlier this year.
“It should have been signed in October, but there will be elections in the Czech Republic at that time,” said Slovak Defence Minister Martin Glváč. Therefore, the agreement will be signed in two weeks at a NATO Days event in Ostrava, where Slovak and Czech ministers of defence will both be present. Implementing documents will follow the framework agreement. This intergovernmental agreement will enable cooperation in defence planning, military training, arms purchases, logistics and military health care, military operations, military exercises and the development of the armed forces.
