Prime Minister Robert Fico is very likely to face a parliamentary no-confidence vote for the first time during this term, with opposition MPs planning to submit a proposal today for the calling of a parliamentary session with only one item on the agenda. This initiative is due to the scandal surrounding the Government's plans to purchase the remaining 49 percent stake in the gas utility company SPP.
The opposition are particularly stirred by unconfirmed information that documents for the Government material on the acquisition were created by the J&T financial group. After the opposition MPs submit their proposal for calling the session, Parliamentary Chairman Pavol Paška will be required to summon the session within seven days.
