When the second biggest private employer in Slovakia, Tesco, announced in May that it would fire almost 300 employees, it claimed it would try to offer them other jobs. So far, 210 staff have accepted their new posts. The collective layoff at Tesco will thus now affect 50 people at the most.
“The layoff process has not been finished yet,” the retail chain reported. Tesco employs nearly 10,000 people in Slovakia, and announced its plans to axe almost 3% of its Slovak workforce. However, the retailer declined to specify jobs from which the staffers will be fired or the new posts they’ll be offered.
