The Slovak national centre for human rights wants to amend the law on advertising due to a great use of sexism. The demand comes after the centre's analysis of outdoor advertisements placed in the vicinity of Bratislava, Žilina, Banská Bystrica and Košice. The new law should also deal with vulgar words and innuendo, as well as with the use of the female body as an object of presentation. The centre's director Marian Mesároš explained that the opinion that "sex sells" is still popular in Slovakia. According to him, that might be the reason for the preservation of gender stereotypes and male dominance in this country.
